Support service plans are developed with each individuals and schedules are setup according to their plan. Attendant staff provide the personal assistance in all areas of daily living, which an individual cannot perform due to their disability. Activities of daily living are defined under Personal Skills or Management<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/csinw.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/support4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-50 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/csinw.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/support4-171x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csinw.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/support4-171x300.jpg 171w, https:\/\/csinw.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/support4.jpg 579w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 151px) 100vw, 151px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Personal Skills offered may include, but are not limited to the following:<\/p>\n<p>Personal Hygiene<br \/>\nBrushing teeth, bed baths, showers, tub baths, shaving, toileting to include inserting suppositories, disimpaction, enemas, emptying catheters, condoms, urine bottles, bedpans, ileostomy bag maintenance, colostomy bag maintenance, diapering, grooming, hair care, skin care such as applying creams\/lotions, changing dressings, turning consumers in order to prevent bedsores, intermittent catheterization, bladder irrigation&#8217;s, assisting consumer in taking oral medication.<\/p>\n<p>Dressing\/Undressing<br \/>\nIncludes full dressing or undressing, assistance with buttons, fastenings, zippers, shoes, boots, assisting in the application of technical devices such as braces, splints, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Transferring<br \/>\nBed to chair, chair to toilet, wheelchair to chair, chair to bathtub, chair to fitness equipment, chair to mode of transportation, and reverse.<\/p>\n<p>To further assist consumers when necessary by manipulating wheelchair if their disability is such that this action is totally impaired. Also assist with wheelchair maintenance and cleaning.<\/p>\n<p>Meal Preparation<br \/>\nPreparation and serving of meals, bibbing, spillages, food cutting, feeding, adhering to special diets.<\/p>\n<p>Exercises<br \/>\nAssist with physiotherapy and range of motion exercises.<\/p>\n<p>Laundry<br \/>\nSorting laundry, loading machine and dryers, folding laundry, putting away laundered clothes, ironing.<\/p>\n<p>Housekeeping<br \/>\nVacuuming, changing linens, cleaning bathroom area, sweeping, mopping floors, dusting.<\/p>\n<p>Banking\/Shopping<br \/>\nMeeting consumer at destination and assisting with shopping for personal items, groceries, banking and other business.<\/p>\n<p>Overnight\/Respite<br \/>\nInclude staying overnight in assisting with any or all of the above services.<\/p>\n<p>Management Skills<br \/>\nThe Management Skills offered may include but are not limited to the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Managing personal finances<br \/>\n\u2022 Using community resources<br \/>\n\u2022 Maintaining a reasonable state of health<br \/>\n\u2022 Managing your personal care by;<br \/>\n\u2022 Developing affective co-operative relationships<br \/>\n\u2022 Assessing and communicating what assistance is needed<br \/>\n\u2022 Using Community Health Programs to meet medical or professional needs<br \/>\n\u2022 Coordinating all elements of consumers<br \/>\n\u2022 Creating a personal satisfying life style<br \/>\n\u2022 Hiring, scheduling and managing Personal Attendants<br \/>\nConsumer Options for Staffing<br \/>\nTwo choices are available to consumers regarding the management of staff:<\/p>\n<p>1. In conjunction with the Program Coordinator, the consumer can hire and manage their own attendant care staff person or,<\/p>\n<p>2. The Program Coordinator will provide and manage the attendant staff person.<\/p>\n<p>How Are Our Staff Trained?<br \/>\nEmployees of C.S.I.N.W receive extensive orientation and training which enables them to perform all aspects of their job description. The Ministry of Health also provides funding for employees to complete the Personal Assistance (PA) and Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program offered through community colleges.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers are an intricate part of the training which ensures the self-directed component of the program is adhered to.<\/p>\n<p>Hours of Operation<br \/>\nTo assist consumers with their daily living requirements, the program operates 7 days a week (including holidays), 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers can schedule assistance for 15 minutes per day up to a maximum of 6 hours per day and can receive from one visit per day or week, up to 5 or 6 visits per day, 7 days per week.<\/p>\n<p>Interested In Learning More Or Joining Our Program?<br \/>\nApply Online Today by Clicking Here or click to view and print our application.
